How browser alarms work

ClockWest checks the current time against your saved alarm list while the page is open. When an alarm time is reached, the page shows a notification-style message and may trigger device vibration where supported.

Browser alarms cannot reliably wake a sleeping device, bypass do-not-disturb settings, or run after the page is closed. For wake-up alarms, medication, travel, legal deadlines or safety-critical reminders, use a dedicated alarm app or device-level alarm.

Choosing between alarms and timers

An alarm is tied to a clock time: 14:30, 18:00, or 09:15 tomorrow morning if the page remains open across the date change. A timer is tied to a duration: ten minutes from now, one hour from now, or twenty-five minutes of focus. Choosing the right tool matters because each answers a different question.

Use alarms for everyday clock-time reminders while you are at your desk: stand up before a meeting, check the oven, call someone back, or leave for an appointment. Use the countdown timer when the exact start time is "now" and the important part is how much time should pass.
